Fun with food and colors!

And this is supposed to be a waffle?

Food + singing and dancing with your family = FUN!
Though this happened back in February, I just had to tell write about it.

Reenactment:
I walk into the kitchen, search through the pantry, the cupboard, and the fridge, yet I am still indecisive about what I wish to devour... then I remembered something I had viewed on "Rachael Ray" (a cooking show I very rarely view) about a man who created colorful pancakes. let me tell you just how awesome he was.... Farris wheels, animals, flowers, you name it, he can make it! if you want to see the story of him and his adorable daughter, just click here.
So, anyways, me being the girl that always has to try new things, decides to attempt at the art of colorful food making...
Now, let me enlighten you on the attempted art of colorful food making!
Purple!
1st step: make your batter. the type of batter depends on who you are I suppose. I just you the pancake/waffle recipe out of the better homes and gardens cook book, but you can use whatever your heart is set on. after you make just your normal batter you could either add food coloring, or make this a healthy-ish breakfast, and use wild berries. (you may have to squish the berries as I did in order to get the juice out so the color pops!)

2nd step: After you have settled on a color, or berry, place all the batter into a mustard/ketchup container (the ones with the thin, needle-like tip) or a Ziploc, like I have done, and cut a SMALL (note that is underlined for a reason!) opening in the tip of the bag.

3rd step: Time to cook! make sure you have the heat very low. when you are creating art such as this, you want to not burn your food-art before you have finished getting it on the pan.
Slowly squeeze the bag/container until the desired amount is coming out at a time. (it should be around the speed of squeezing a tube of toothpaste) now, make art!

Now, I had a blast! (don't mind that awkward face of mine. I am truelly baffeled by how I can look so goofy at times)  during the entire process of making these... umm... beautiful works of food-art.

The product of my toil!

Here is how some of them ended up. not too shabby if I do say.

Time to go. so I will leave you with one little thing.

IT"S OK TO PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD SOMETIMES!

Spring Break

I will gladly accept any free time I can acquire, but this spring break had its ups and downs. during this spring break, I was both blessed, and struck with sadness. My percentage Boer goat, Nemo, had to be put down last Saturday. he was MY "baby" and currently his sister still grieves for the loss of her best friend. I went to the back yard and took him away for the last time, and since Dory (his sister) saw me take him away and not return him to his rightful place, she continues to charge me. Not any of the other children, just me. though this isn't the most wanted reaction, it still amazes me how God created such caring and knowledgeable creatures.
Saturday morning we lost a loved animal, and Saturday evening anew creature came into our lives for a short period of time. Our dog, daisy, bit a squirrel, and I decided to be heroic and "save" it. we took him inside, cleaned him up, and named him desperado or Lil bit for short. it is Friday now, and he looked healthy, and anxious to be released into the "wild" (back yard) again. I will miss him, but I'm glad he has recovered.
"You've kept track of my every toss and turn
through the sleepless nights,
Each tear entered in your ledger,
each ache written in your book."
Psalms 56:8
\Lord, I know he does miraculous things, and will continue to do so, but please during this time, I pray for peace for my family, and myself.
