Life.... a four letter word that implies the growth and prosperity of a creature.
The dictionary describes it like this: " The condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death."
this may be life, but what about your life... and my life, what is the meaning of that?
To make friends, have fun, be yourself, not worry about the days to come? I don't know about you, but my life is intended to Glorify God, my Strength and my song. He has become my salvation.
This year has been rough for me, it is a constantly increasing in complexity. the fact that it was unstable to begin with, but I have turned, and am now floating smoothly on my way to his arms. and by his, I am referring to Christ, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit! he is the focus of my life! People have noticed a difference in me. I'm no longer that kid you can talk trash to, and she'll take it with a smile, now I am the one who stands up for those in need. but my fault... my biggest fault, or so I see it, is that I don't care about what happens to ma as long as my family, friends, and faith is protected. I will hurt for them.
Over the past eight or nine months I have grown to respect, and Love my best friend. he has helped me through a lot, and I know I can count on him. sadly he is going away to college for five years come this fall, and I guess it will be skype night when I need him.
Well, there is my drama... thank God for good friends.. or just a blog... it helps too!
Goodnight, and God Bless,
Ruth

A Day with the Girls... and Daddy
"...Dad, it's time for burritos"
Yesterday me, my two younger, yet taller, sisters, and my lovely Dad went fishing and gallivanting through town.
at the Lake
(Left) My youngest sister (12) waiting for my dad (.?.) to get off the phone so they can go to Taco Bell a favorite at my house.
Part of our gallivanting consisted of taking the Boy Scouts of America's (or just the local) job for an hour or so. While the boys slept in their beds, these three musketeers and their trusted advisor (aka my dad, the man with the money and car) drove through the streets of town terrorizing those poor little boy scouts that so sadly are too short to reach the flag pole holders. I don't have a right to say anything their, considering most of the people 12 and older are taller than me... but, hey I can dream can I not?
After fishing, putting the boy scouts to shame, and listening to my younger sister beg for my dad to get burritos, he finally was outwitted (or just plain tired) from the two younger children whining for food.
He gave in...
notice the one odd table
This is how. as my little sister sat and played with the different sauce packages, I let out those three little words that no child can say no to "I dare you..", unless they wish to endure the rest of their life being considered chicken of course this was all fun and games, and no sauce packages were hurt during the making of this blog post.
"GROSS!"
"What the..."
I dared her to take down the Fire package, but I do give her slack, I mean, come on she is not this crazy little red head, that I tend to be revealed to the public as.
Well, I am heading off to church with my Good friends. I pray that God blesses your every step today.
"The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus."
God Bless,
Ruth

My first tutorial ~ pin back shirt modification
Good evening everyone, I have just returned from Governor's school! (TGSAS) and all during the month at college, I was aching to sew! So, here is the product of my toil.
I have never attempted the dreaded tutorial (or so it has been called) but today, I will do my very best to help you envision this simple modification.
Lets Get Started! now, I know every girl has grabbed the back of a T-shirt and scrunched it up and just wished it was a tiny bit tighter. now that, that is what we are doing here. I measured 6 inches from the seam underneath the armpit on each side, then I put on my over sized shirt, and pinched the areas on the back of my shirt where the pins are placed. (You may change the placement of the pins in order for it to fit you properly, just make sure they are even)
Once you have found the two points in which you are going to cinch the fabric in at, now, pinch the material and create a cavity in which the desired ribbon can be securely placed.
Now turn the shirt inside out, and move the pin, without losing your place, to the inside of the material.
if you are having difficulties try to follow the pictures.
After you have sewn both ribbons to the shirt flip the shirt right side out again, and tug on the ribbons to ensure they are securely placed.
When you're done this is what the back will look like.
CONGRATULATIONS! you have just completed one of the easiest quick fix modifications known to human kind.
Thanks for looking at the post, if you have any comments or suggestions, do not hesitate to leave a message.

I have never attempted the dreaded tutorial (or so it has been called) but today, I will do my very best to help you envision this simple modification.
First off, you will need a t-shirt (I used a button-up) that is just a little too large for you.
I used this simple polka doted button-up that was just too big for me to wear in public confidently.
Secondly, you will need about a a yard of ribbon (color of your choice), scissors, sewing machine, tape measure, seam ripper, and pins.

Rain, Rain, go away, soil my garden some other day!
![]() |
Flowers and Herbs!
The heavens are allowing this continuous down pour, which is drenching not only my animals and myself, but my garden! we planted the garden, flowers, herbs, and vegetables last week, the next day came the down pour! it rained and rained and still, rained. when will it end you may ask? humph, good question.
After a relaxing afternoon the sky began to darken around 2:30 p.m. or so, and it progressively worsened.
After an hour of the sky darkening and me lurking around every corner for a different picture (whether it be of my silly brothers storm chasing, so to speak, or just the sky), it began to pour rain!

The boys in the hall restroom.
The boys and I jolted for the door as it began to hail and the sirens blew their ghastly horns towards our general direction. We were drenched from head to foot by the time we reached the door, and were then instantly shoved into the hall restroom along with my Dad. Can you not see the joy on their faces? just imagine seven people all cramned in there... nightmare.
The storm eventually came to a lull and now, here comes the fun part, we get to go play in the puddles! As the three musketeers (my two brothers and I) ventured out into the open, we noticed small crystals on the ground. Being a boy and all, the youngest boy decides to see how many mud-covered ice balls (otherwise known as hail) into his mouth at once.
Since our power is out, due to the storm, we decided to try and make taffy! It was for The eldest boys english class, and we had nothing better to do. our first attempt didn't end as we believed it should have. it evolved into a hard candy. Even though it tasted like laffy-taffy, it had the texture of Christmas ribbon candies. Anyways, we drizzeled it into a cookie sheet after it came to a 270 degree boil, and waited for it to cool; this is when it began to harden very quickly. instead of taffy, we decided it would make some marvelous suckers! How do you say... improvised? after our sucker shananagan, we attempted once more. after we had a guest accompany us at dinner, we tidied up and I went to sleep. at 1:30 in the morning mind you, I am shooken awake. "I got it Ruth! I got it" my older brother yells as he shoves a newly wrapped peice of raspberry salt water taffy in my mouth... ok, it was good; but not good enough to be woken at that kind of hour. for it says in the bible "If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse." Proverbs 27:14.
Well, I have exceeded my limit of anyoning random people on the internet, so I will head out for the evening. Good bye, and God bless.

Fun with food and colors!

And this is supposed to be a waffle?
Food + singing and dancing with your family = FUN!
Though this happened back in February, I just had to tell write about it.
Reenactment:
Reenactment:
I walk into the kitchen, search through the pantry, the cupboard, and the fridge, yet I am still indecisive about what I wish to devour... then I remembered something I had viewed on "Rachael Ray" (a cooking show I very rarely view) about a man who created colorful pancakes. let me tell you just how awesome he was.... Farris wheels, animals, flowers, you name it, he can make it! if you want to see the story of him and his adorable daughter, just click here.
So, anyways, me being the girl that always has to try new things, decides to attempt at the art of colorful food making...
Now, let me enlighten you on the attempted art of colorful food making!

Purple!
1st step: make your batter. the type of batter depends on who you are I suppose. I just you the pancake/waffle recipe out of the better homes and gardens cook book, but you can use whatever your heart is set on. after you make just your normal batter you could either add food coloring, or make this a healthy-ish breakfast, and use wild berries. (you may have to squish the berries as I did in order to get the juice out so the color pops!)
2nd step: After you have settled on a color, or berry, place all the batter into a mustard/ketchup container (the ones with the thin, needle-like tip) or a Ziploc, like I have done, and cut a SMALL (note that is underlined for a reason!) opening in the tip of the bag. 3rd step: Time to cook! make sure you have the heat very low. when you are creating art such as this, you want to not burn your food-art before you have finished getting it on the pan.
Slowly squeeze the bag/container until the desired amount is coming out at a time. (it should be around the speed of squeezing a tube of toothpaste) now, make art!

Time to go. so I will leave you with one little thing.

Spring Break
I will gladly accept any free time I can acquire, but this spring break had its ups and downs. during this spring break, I was both blessed, and struck with sadness. My percentage Boer goat, Nemo, had to be put down last Saturday. he was MY "baby" and currently his sister still grieves for the loss of her best friend. I went to the back yard and took him away for the last time, and since Dory (his sister) saw me take him away and not return him to his rightful place, she continues to charge me. Not any of the other children, just me. though this isn't the most wanted reaction, it still amazes me how God created such caring and knowledgeable creatures.
Saturday morning we lost a loved animal, and Saturday evening anew creature came into our lives for a short period of time. Our dog, daisy, bit a squirrel, and I decided to be heroic and "save" it. we took him inside, cleaned him up, and named him desperado or Lil bit for short. it is Friday now, and he looked healthy, and anxious to be released into the "wild" (back yard) again. I will miss him, but I'm glad he has recovered.

each ache written in your book."

\Lord, I know he does miraculous things, and will continue to do so, but please during this time, I pray for peace for my family, and myself.
